Needle of Forgiveness
Set in the 1980s, Needle of Forgiveness unfolds in Goa, a former Portuguese colony that stands apart within a Hindu-dominated nation because of its deep-rooted Catholic faith.
At the heart of the novel is Maria (Shammai), a woman in her eighties, immersed in faith and haunted by the longing for forgiveness. Alongside her is Kia, a twelve-year-old girl whose greatest desire is to be reunited with her father.
Kia works as a needle, stitching together her parents’ broken love—an act that Shammai believes was the cause of their painful separation. When Kia sets out on a dangerous journey to find her father, the adventure demands an impossible sacrifice: leaving her mother behind.
Lost, smuggled, and tested beyond her years, Kia survives with the help of her loyal dog, Leader, who guides her when she is lost and finds her when all hope seems gone. Shammai believes deeply in Kia—until Kia commits an act that Shammai finds impossible to accept.
Needle of Forgiveness is a moving blend of romance and adventure, exploring guilt, belief, courage, and the painful cost of forgiveness. It asks a timeless question: Can faith heal what love has broken?
